JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE MARRIES JESSICA BIEL IN $6.5 MILLION WEDDING
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are
officially married. The couple confirmed the news on Friday in a statement, following days of mounting speculation about their nuptials.
Justin and Jessica said their I dos in a rustic Italian ceremony in front of close friends and family.
Their statement to People.com read: ‘It’s great to be married, the ceremony was beautiful and it was so special to be surrounded by our family and friends.’
The Hollywood couple even kept their guests in the dark about exactly when the
wedding would take place after flying them
out to Southern Italy for a week-long
celebration, estimated to have cost the couple $6.5million, according to RadarOnline.
Justin, 31, and Jessica, 30, had been dating
for five years.
He proposed in Big Sky Montana with a
custom-designed ring in December last year.
Although they have been tight-lipped about
their plans, the Alpha Dog star recently
reminisced about when he asked his fiancée
on their first date.
That was back in 2007 – after Timberlake got her details from a friend.
He told UK’s Hello! magazine: ‘I did it the
old fashion way – by telephone. That’s
something I learned from both my stepdad
and my grandfather – that there is a thing
called chivalry and it doesn’t have to die
with the birth of the internet.
‘The way I see it, if you’re asking a girl out on a date, it’s only right to do it in a way that she can hear your voice.’
But because he was a big name popstar at
the time, not to mention a former
Mouseketeer, it was not an easy sell.
The SexyBack singer admitted: ‘I had to be
pretty persistent in order to get her to say
yes.
‘But I have a fair amount of tenacity and if I want something I stick to it. And in the end she agreed.’
He also said that their most important
quality as a couple is their willingness to
work hard on their relationship.
He said: ‘Some days are better than other
days for all of us – and if we have our good days and bad days individually, and then we’re dealing with someone else’s good and bad days on top of that, it’s going to add up.
‘But what I have learned from my stepdad is something as important, which is patience and compassion.
‘Because when you are living with someone
else, those two qualities go a long way.’
The marriage is the first for both stars.

LAGOS TRADER ALLEGEDLY SEVEN MONTHS PREGNANT FOR FUNKE AKINDELE’S HUSBAND
A Lagos trader, Modinat Nike Dada, in her
late 30s is seven months pregnant for Funke Akindele’s husband, Kehinde Oloyede, E24-7 MAGAZINE can authoritatively reveal.
Modinat Mother of two boys and popularly
known as Mama Dayo, was formerly married to a man simply known as Dayo. Both have since separated. The marriage crashed some years back due to irreconcilable differences and alleged domestic abuse. Her former hubby was a wife beater, alleged some sources.
” But when the situation became life
threatening she had to leave the man and
joined her elder sister, a successful clothing
merchant in her shop at Oshodi.
Her former hubby, Dayo, was a graduate of
Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta. Not a few family members were surprised to know that the marriage did not last because they were like two inseparable lovebirds when they were dating. The former hubby took the two children away from her and kept them in her mother’s custody in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. Though life threw a big storm at her, she found solace in the love and care from her immediate siblings who were not only always around her but promptly responds to her needs. Modinat in her late 30s quickly picked her life up and became industrious.
She traded in some fast consuming goods
which she was selling in wholesale to
retailers.
When she finally moved to her sister’s shop, her path crossed with Kehinde Oloyede, popularly known as Kendoo. Incidentally, Kendoo , a property merchant is the landlord of her sister’s shop in Oshodi. He found in her a good and amiable friend and as fate would have it, she found herself in his arms.
Modinat and Kendoo instantly became an
item and they were seen together at some of their close friends’ private parties. The
romance thickened, they shared great
moments together and there was pressure to
get pregnant. Not once or twice inside
sources said the Ota, Ogun State-born trader
was accompanied to several spiritualists and
gynecologists by Kendoo in their bid to seal
their romance with a baby. Sometimes in
March, she got pregnant and filled with joy, she announced to her lover-boy, who close sources said was not ecstatic about it. “He practically took off, he stopped coming to her house, shunned all entreaties and stopped picking her calls,” E24-7 MAGAZINE’s source hinted. The following month, Modinat was shocked to read in magazines and newspapers that Kendoo wanted to marry the Return of Jenifa’s star actress, Funke Akindele. She was devastated, flustered but once again, her family rose and stood firmly behind her.
In the last few months, Modinat has been
under intense pressure to keep her mouth
sealed and advised to avoid the media.
Sources close to her confirmed that she has
been inundated with calls by several people
close to the famous actress, Funke Akindele,
to keep a low profile and keep the ‘family’s’ dirty linen away from the public. She has been promised juicy offers if she delivers without spilling the bean and grudgingly she has accepted. Modinat, who currently lives in a tastefully furnished apartment in Agege area of Lagos has accepted her fate and rejoices in the fact
that the baby she is expecting would bring
joy back to her again. Since her former
hubby took her two boys away she has not
set her eyes on them, she feared the
estranged hubby might move them abroad
and cut her links to them forever. Her
consolation is in the baby she’s expecting to be her companion in years to come.
As it were, Funke Akindele’s hubby with
five kids already is expecting in the next
few months three additional children in his
harem. His second wife, Fadekemi is in the
last trimester of her pregnancy and is due to deliver soon. Modinat will also have her baby latest in December latest while Funke,
reported to be in her first trimester is
expected to deliver mid-July 2013.

WOMAN CAUGHT HAVING SEX WITH CO-TENANT IN BATHROOM, WHILE HUSBAND WATCHED TV
A cheating married woman in Rujeko C in
Masvingo, had sex with her tenant in the
bathroom on Tuesday while her husband
watched television in the lounge.
When she took a long time to return from
the bathroom the husband followed her to
the bathroom and rumbled her. The incident
which has become a subject of discussion in
the entire Rujeko suburb took place at around 9pm when the woman who has been identified only as Mai Shield was found having a good time with a man identified as Chingwa in the bathroom.
According to one resident, who only
identified himself as Sam, the woman was
watching television in the company of her
husband, only identified as Mr Tafi or Baba
Shield. He said while the two were enjoying watching television, Mai Shield allegedly received a message on her phone after which he told her husband that she wanted to take a bath as she was feeling hot.
“Mai Shield received an sms on his phone
after which she left for the bathroom on the
pretext that she was going to bath. The
truth of the matter is that Chingwa whose
philandering with the married woman is
suspected to be spanning many years had
sneaked into the bathroom and sent an sms
calling her lover,” said Sam.
When the two met in the bathroom, the
woman locked the door and started making
love. However, all hell broke loose when the
woman’s husband knocked on the bathroom
door to find out if Mai Shield was still
bathing.
“Mr Tafi had to come to the bathroom to
find out if his wife was still in, bathing,
since she had taken long. The man was
worried about the time the woman had
spent in the bathing room and went on to
find out, only to get the shock of his life,”
he said.
He said when Mr Tafi knocked at the door
the love birds were having a time of their
lives that Mai Shield could not respond to
the knock. However, when Mr Tafi whose
suspicion had mounted threatened to break
the door the woman said she had just finished bathing and would open the door.
Mr Tafi is said to have got frustrated that he forced open the door and he found Chingwa, zipping his trousers while Mai Shield stood motionless.
A scuffle ensued between Chingwa and Mr
Tafi but eventually Chingwa managed to
break free from the enraged man’s grip and
made good his escape.
Chingwa is said to be a tenant at one of the man’s houses in Rujeko A and also Mr Tafi’s friend.
“You know Chingwa is a friend to this man
but for reasons better known to him he has
been seeing his wife since time immemorial
and as that is not enough he is a tenant at
one of the man’s houses in Rujeko A. The
man has two houses,” said another resident.
He said the woman is known to be of loose
morals and last year she was again caught
making love by his daughter who is now
married.
“The woman has a knack of sleeping with
her tenants, last year she was caught making
love to a man who works at one of the local
funeral assurance companies in Masvingo.
We thought she has stopped but it shows
she will never,” he said.
After being caught being red-handed the
woman escaped to her daughter’s house in
Rujeko B. The man went to report the case
to Rujeko police base where he left the
officers in stitches when he brought a plate
full of Sadza as exhibit.
“Mr Tafi allegedly went to report the case at
the police where he showed the officers on
duty, a plate full of Sadza, that he believed
could have been left for Chingwa, by his
wife,” the resident said.
Masvingo provincial police spokesperson,
Inspector Peter Zhanero could neither confirm nor deny the incident and promised to check with Rujeko police base.
“That incident is not to my knowledge and chances are that it could have been handled by our officers at Rujeko base. They could have counselled the couple and decided not to record it but I will check,” said Inspector Zhanero
However, a police source at the base
confirmed receiving the case but professed
ignorance on whether a docket was opened
or not.

RIHANNA’S FATHER GIVES HIS BLESSINGS FOR HER MARRIAGE TO CHRIS BROWN
While Rihanna recently announced that she was ready to release another album, she has been less vocal about her relationship status with Chris Brown.
However, her father has not only given his
blessing for them to be together, but he has
also said he wants them to get married.
Rihanna, 24, has reportedly reconciled with
ex boyfriend Chris, even though he is still
on probation for attacking her in February
2009.
Her father Ronald Fenty does not hold any
grudges against Brown, 23, and has gone as
far to say that he hopes they will tie the
knot at some point in the future.
Speaking to Life & Style magazine he said:
‘Whatever makes her happy. I hope one day
she will get married. Everyone adores Chris,
he’s a super guy.
‘The family loved Chris Brown before they
met him. I always thought he was extremely talented. He is a good person and always gave me great respect.’
A friend close to Chris told Hollywoodlife.com how the former lovers
have found happiness with each other again.
They said: ‘They’re riding high right now,
you feel me, enjoying they lives and happy to be back in each others arms.
‘It’s true love and it stood the test of time.
You know it’s real. It can’t be anything
else. They done gone through hell and back
together and I’m happy for both of them.’
Unfortunately, not everybody is happy
about the reconciliation, with some of
Rihanna’s camp expressing worry over
Chris’s past actions.
A source said: ‘I wouldn’t be surprised if she married him just to show that she and Chris don’t care what anyone thinks and can do whatever they want.
‘It’s kind of scary. Their reconciliation has
already upset her friends and management.
They’re an explosive combination.’
Rihanna didn’t let the current drama in her
life put her off her work as she arrived at a
Los Angeles studio at 2am, ready to record
some music.
The Rude Boy singer dressed casually in
adidas tracksuit bottoms and wore grey
jumper with black trainers.
She also cryptically tweeted: ‘I found the
one, he changed my life…But was it me that changed and he just happened to come at the right time? #UNAPOLOGETIC’.

“IT WAS A COMPLETE EMBARRASSMENT TO THE COUNTRY” – LIBERIA TO INVESTIGATE 6-1 LOSS TO NIGERIA
Heads will roll in Liberia following the
routing of the Lone Stars by Nigeria’s Super
Eagles in a South Africa 2013 Nations Cup
qualifier in Calabar last Saturday.
The Eagles whipped Lone Stars 6-1 to
complete a comprehensive 8-3 aggregate win.
Liberia upped the stake for the match by the Presidential involvement in the decisive
qualifier and in the return leg, a threatening 125-strong delegation stormed Nigeria for the second leg which ended in disgarce for the Lone Star.
Smarting Liberia’s sport chiefs yesterday
insisted that a probe of the national team
officials and the Technical staff was
inevitable. In a bid to save his job, Sports
Minister, Tornalah Varpliah, has announced
that a report would be made public on what transpired in Calabar, Nigeria.
Varpliah further explained that a Committee
would soon be named to investigate the
Calabar shame, especially the late arrival of
the Lone Star to the UJ Esuene Stadium.
“We’re carrying on this investigation to use the outcome as a gaudiness not to bring people to public disrepute,” he told The Liberian Times.
”The display in Calabar was a complete
embarrassment to the country and the public needs to know the saga behind it,, added Varpliah.
He said that the 6-1 bashing came as a rude
shock to the Liberians because the Lone Star
had posted impressive performances against
Ghana, Malawi and even Nigeria in the first
leg 2-2 draw.
Varpliah believes Liberia needs a sport policy
to conduct proper training for sports
management. “We have serious limitation
when it comes to sport management, we
don’t know who the right people to do the
job, we need the policy to develop and be
on par with the international world,” he
stated.
He noted that the country has many
challenges that need to be corrected and will help us improve their game.
The Lone Star arrived Nigeria on the morning of the match and attempted to shift the blame on the Nigerian Aviation authorities and the Nigeria Football Federation.
The last time Liberia was so heavily beaten
was seven years ago when Senegal’s Teranga Lions beat the Lone Star 6-1 in 2005.

WOLE SOYINKA CONDEMNS ALUU KILLINGS, CALLS IT MAN’S INHUMANITY TO MAN
Nobel laureate, Professor Wale Soyinka has
described the brutal murder of four
students of the University of Port
Harcourt as the height of man’s
inhumanity to man.
Soyinka who spoke, Thursday, in Port
Harcourt at the public presentation of
Port Harcourt as UNESCO World Book
capital for 2014 said it was so painful
watching the video clips of how the
students were butchered to death.
Another worrisome thing according to
him, was that the killing took place
before silent spectators and passive
participants in the community.
Continuing, he said the sad incident was
another indication that there was war
between the forces of darkness and light
in the country.
Adding, he said Boko Haram and other
allied movements that wage war against
civility and enlightenment were fighting
against humanity.
The literary icon warned the country
not to succumb to these forces of evil.
“I believe quite frankly this country is
at war, the war is between the forces of
darkness and the forces of light. The
forces of intellect, the forces of rationality and the forces of atavism. retrograde thinking, the forces of hatred against humanism.

“ARSENAL’S UNBEATEN SEASON IS BIGGER THAN CHELSEA’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WIN” – VILLAS-BOAS
Tottenham Hotspurs’ home game against
Chelsea tomorrow afternoon, will be more
than just another London derby. It will be
the first time that Andre Villas-Boas, will
come face to face with the club where he
tried to make his reputation in England, and failed woefully.
What made it worse, is that his then
assistant, Roberto Di Matteo, which is now
the permanent manager of the club, went on to win the double that included the UEFA Champions League.
But the former Porto boss, says he is not
impressed by the conquest of Europe,
insisting that going unbeaten in the league
is a superior achievement.
“Winning any league is extremely difficult
but going through it unbeaten is also
extremely difficult,” he said. “The
achievement that Arsenal did [in 2003-04]
was remarkable and outstanding and
probably won’t be repeated in the modern
game as it happened in Porto with me.
“There were games where we lived on the
limit and certainly Arsenal did the same. It
will be something extremely difficult to go
past.”
Villas-Boas, who took up the reins at White
Hart Lane this summer, was then asked
ourightly which was more difficult to win.
His response was: “Remaining unbeaten in
the league.”

THINGS YOU SHOULDN’T WERE IN AN AIRCRAFT (INFLIGHT FASHION).
It is very important to know what to
wear on a plane
Tight clothing: tight clothes restrict blood flow in the already confined space of an airplane seats(avoiding the risk of
experiencing DVT deep vein thrombosis)
High heels: heels are restrictive and don’t facilitate movement in case of emergency.
Offensive clothing: do you know an airline has the right to to deny boarding to anyone wearing obscene and offensive clothing do clothing you can wear to church or a proper gathering.
Cologne and perfumes:remember odours
are intensified in an airplane because air is
recycled throughout the cabin.
My advice is go easy on your perfumes, you never know who your seat mate is could be someone who react to
noxious smell or an asthma patient and
your perfume could trigger a reaction.

ALUU KILLINGS: SUSPECT FAULTS IG’S CLAIM, INDICTS POLICE OFFICER IN MURDER
Barely 48 hours after the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar said the mob
that lynched four UNIPORT students chased
his men away from the area, one of the
suspects paraded before journalists in Port
Harcourt, on Tuesday, David Ugbaje, said he
saw two policemen at the scene with one of them taking part in the beating of the
victims.
The suspect’s allegation raises a big question
mark on the integrity and possible
culpability of the Nigerian Police in the
incident.
Ugbaje, a shoemaker, was paraded alongside
the traditional ruler of Umuokiri village,
Alhaji Hassan Welewa; Lawal Segun, Lucky
Orji, Cynthia Chinwo, Ekpe Daniel, George

Ugbaje and Ikechukwu Louis Amadi (alias
Capon).
He said he was informed the victims were
robbers adding that one of the victims was
his customer. He also admitted hitting the
victims twice.
“I saw a crowd beating four boys and I
asked who they were? They were just four
men being beaten. They told me they were
armed robbers. I inquired to know what
happened in the compound, but they only
said they were going to 9, Coca cola Street
in Umuokiri-Aluu. I said ok, “it is my
compound”, let us go and see the person to
know whether he was their member, or let
them point at the particular person they
were going to look for.
“Along the line, two policemen came around.
One of them was pleading, the other one
even joined in the beating. After beating the boys, the police now asked that they hand over the boys to them,” Ugbaje said.

ARSENAL KEEPER CRISIS DEEPENS: SZCZESNY SUFFERS SETBACK, FABIANSKI RULED OUT FOR THREE MONTHS
Arsenal’s goalkeeper crisis looks set to
continue with the news Lukasz Fabianski
has been ruled out for three months with
ruptured ankle ligaments and Wojciech
Szczesny has suffered a setback in his return from an ankle injury.
Goal.com has learned that Fabianski suffered
the injury in training on Tuesday, just as
he was closing in on a first-team comeback.
Szczesny has been wearing a protective boot for around 10 days as he steps up his
recovery from the ankle injury which has
kept him out for month, but Goal.com
understands that he is still two to three
weeks away from a return to training.
It deepens Arsenal’s keeper injury crisis
ahead of a glut of fixtures, beginning with
Saturday’s Premier League trip to Norwich
and next Wednesday’s crucial Champions
League match against Schalke.
Fabianski has not played for Arsenal since
their FA Cup elimination at the hands of
Sunderland in February after struggling with shoulder injuries.
However, he remains Wenger’s second-choice
keeper and, after working his way back to
fitness, was set to be named in the squad
for the meeting with the Canaries.
The latest setback for the luckless 27-year-old means that Vito Mannone, who began the season third in the pecking order, will
continue in goal with Argentinian Damien
Martinez and youngster James Shea serving
as back-up.
Mannone has played in seven of Arsenal’s 10 matches this season, while Szczesny and
Martinez have stood between the sticks in
two and one games respectively.
Wenger may now be forced to reinforce his
goalkeeping resources in the January
window by adding some experienced back-
up.
Fabianski, who has 20 caps for his country,
joined Arsenal from Legia Warsaw five years ago but has struggled with injury and made only 62 first-team appearances.
After losing his No.1 status to compatriot
Szczesny at the end of the 2011-12 season
following an injury, he has failed to win it
back and said he wanted to quit Emirates
Stadium after figuring in just six matches
last season.

World’s oldest dad does it again at 96 (well, he does have sex three
times a night!) Ramjit Raghav has become a father for the second time, aged 96
His first son, Karamjit, was born two
years ago in Haryana, northern India
The Indian man has become the world’s
oldest father for the second time at the age
of 96.
Ramjit Raghav was awarded the title two
years ago when he had his first born son
Karamjit aged 94.
Although he swore one was enough, the
pensioner and his wife Shakuntala, 54,
welcomed another son Ranjit, last month.
World’s oldest: Ramjit Raghav holding his
second baby Ranjit at the ripe old age of
96 Speaking at his home in the state of
Haryana, 31 miles from Delhi, Ramjit said:
‘What can I do? This is all God’s wish. He
wanted me to have another son.’
When Shakuntala gave birth to the healthy boy earlier this month at the Government hospital in Haryana, the doctors laughed when Ramjit said he was
the father.
He said: ‘They just laughed but they were
very surprised.’
Ramjit, who lives with his family in a
studio apartment, has high hopes for his
sons.
Daddy duties: Ramjit Raghav, 96, with his
wife Shankuntala, 54, and sons Karamjit,
4, and newborn Ranjit, is excited to have
become a father again
He said: ‘I have been a farmer all my life.
But I want them to become high ranking
government workers.
‘It’s good that I have another son now.
Even if one of them dies, God forbid, I
will have someone to carry on my family
name.”
Ramjit admits that as proud as he is of
having two healthy sons at his age, his
neighbours are more jealous of his sex
drive.
Ramjit admits that as proud as he is of
having two healthy sons at his age, his
neighbours are more jealous of his sex
drive
‘I’m healthy and I enjoy sex with my
wife. I think it’s very important for a
husband and wife to Be Intimate regularly
and when she asks I will go on all night
but for the sake of my child I’ve put our
needs aside for now.’
Father-of-two Ramjit claims that a daily
diet of almonds, butter and milk kept him
sexually active.
He said: ‘I care for my wife and I give her
everything she needs. She is a very happy
woman.’
When Ramjit met second wife Shakuntala,
he had been a widower for 25 years.
The pair met 22 years ago on a rainy
morning at a Muslim shrine, Ramjit asked
her to come home with him and she has
never left.
‘She didn’t have any family or friends
around, and I wanted to help her,’ he
explains.
‘I took her under my wing and taught
her some yoga and we fell in love. Many
of my past girlfriends had died so I had
never married and then I asked Shakuntala
to be my wife.’
Shakuntala believes she would have been
dead by now if it was not for Ramjit’s
caring ways.
She said: ‘It doesn’t matter how old he is,
I love him and I care for him dearly even,
though he shouts at me sometimes.
‘He doesn’t seem old to me, he can make
love like any 25-year-old man, even better.

“I’D MARRY MY HUSBAND AGAIN IN A HEART BEAT” – PASTOR ESTHER BENENOCH
It came to many as a surprise, when Bishop
David Benenoch, of the Communion Church
in Lagos, announced that he was divorcing
his wife of 20 years. The man of God went
on to state that it was a divine instruction from God, for him to split from his wife and there was no going back.
However, his wife, Pastor Esther Benenoch,
has spoken out for the first time. Without
mincing words, she said that she does not
regret marrying her husband and if time was turned back, she would make the decision all over again.
Her blog post read in full:
One of the best decisions I have made in life is being married to my husband. It’s one thing am glad and grateful to God for.
As achievements go, while many women are fighting to make a name for themselves, with all sincerity and I believe it, my greatest achievement would have been my husband and my family. Nothing fills me with joy as being Mrs Esther Benenoch. It may not sound like much, but for it is a big part of my destiny.
I know what you are thinking that may be that’s why this has befallen me, I still do not regret it. God is faithful. And so inspite of all that is going on, I do not, and will never regret saying I do to my husband, and I will do it again in a heart beat even though I do not understand all that is going on right now.
Regret is an emotion that we should not
give our selves to as believers. For as an
emotion it does not take us far with God
neither does it give us the spiritual results
that we seek. Feelings of remorse is temporal
and has it’s foundation in the flesh, it is
carnal and therefore can not please God. king Saul regreted his actions in not killing king Agag and sparing some the cattle and sheep.
His remorse was fleeting and not heart felt
because first he blamed the people and he did
to save face or gain respect from Samuel and
the people.
Judas Iscariot also regretted his selling his
Lord Jesus for 30 pieces of silver, but he
went and comitted suicide after wards . In
Matthew 27vs3 ”when Judas who had
betrayed him, and saw that Jesus was
condemned he was seized with remorse and
returned the 30 silver coins to the chief
priests and elders” In vs5 it is written ”so
Judas threw the money into the temple and
left. Then he went away and hanged
himself.” This is the result of regret. This
how far it can go, hopelessness, dispaire ,and
destruction. The reason for this simple, regret
stems from the wisdom of the world, it is
carnal, soulish and therefore lacks the power
to save or transform us.
One of the best decisions i have made in life
is being married to my husband, it’s one
thing am glad and grateful to God for. As
achievements go, while many women are
fighting to make a name for themselves, with
all sincerity and i believe it, my greatest
achievement would have been my husband
and my family, nothing fills me with joy as
being mrs esther benenoch. It may not sound
like much, but for it is a big part of my
destiny. I know what you are thinking that may be that’s why this has befallen me, I still do not regret it,God is faithful.
And so inspite of all that is going on i do
not, and will never regret saying i do to
my husband, and i will do it again in a
heart beat even though i do not understand
all that is going on right now. But my
marriage is a walk of faith; much like my
walk with this awesome wonderful Lord of
my life,Jesus. I take seriously the word of
God ”the just shall live by faith and not by sight.”
For this reason i say no to regret, and yes
to mourning and repentance.
Yes to mourning and repentance because it
is of the Spirit of God and it brings
transformation.
Regret —–no, because regret is false religion
having a form of godliness but denying the
power of God to save to the uttermost.
Repentance—-yes, for it admits the
powerlessness of self,and wholly
acknowledges and depends upon the power
of God to save.
Regret—-no, for it is temporal and often like a dog goes back to it’s vomit. It is mere
words and letters and often kills–like judas,
see psalm76vs34-36.
Repentance—yes, it is action ,obedience, humility, brokenness and
admission that i am helpless without God.
Repentance definitely yes— because it causes my heart to follow hard after God who alone upholds me with righteous right hand—Psalm63vs8.
repentance –yes, because it causes my heart to sing” O God my help in ages past,my hope for years to come.”
Repentance—yes, because it says with a
broken heart to my God and my mercy–”to
whom shall i go to, you alone have the
words of eternal life.”
Repentance –yes, because it causes my heart
to sing,” great is your mercy and
faithfulness,your loving kindness is better
than life.” It praises the God of second
chances, and says to Him,”create me a clean
heart and renew a right spirit within me,
cast me not away from your presence.”
Regret—no, For it walks away in defeat, but with a hard heart, unyielded, impatient to wait upon the God of all flesh who causes all things to work together for the good of all those who love Him and are called by His purpose.
Repentance–yes, as it waits in hope upon
Him who makes all things new and says to the Lord—’Lord when you said to my heart seek me, my heart says to you, your face O Lord will i seek, for my goodness comes only from you.
Repentance—yes, It brings you face to face
before the Lord with whom we have to deal
and keeps you there until He turns your
mourning into joy and dancing again, until He lifts your sorrows,so you can no longer stay silent; but sing and dance and rejoice for His joy has come. Repentance and mourning cleanses the soul, as through tears and brokenness, you recount the countless blessings of God, His righteous acts of salvation, help, deliverance, and trust Him for new blessings.
Regrets —No, for it blames God and others
and does not remember past blessings,
neither is grateful.
Job did not regret, neither did David they
mourned and repented for for failures and
mistakes. You are a child of God, do not
regret, His love is greater and stronger than
our mistakes and Failures. There is no need
or room for regret in a believers life, that’s
the way of the world. I leave you with
these words of encouragement; in Acts the
bible encourages ”repent and be saved
[delivered] that times of of refreshing may
come,, then Matthew 5vs4 ”Blesssed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted’
Lord teach us to mourn and live a life of
repentance on this side of eternity so that
our weaknesses, failures, mistakes will not
prevail against us, and we can be every
thing you have called us to be; a people of
power and praise, holiness so we will show
the praises of Him who has called out
darkness into His marvelous light on earth.

RAPIST INVADE FLOOD CAMP IN BENUE, MORE THAN 19 WOMEN FALL VICTIM.
Rapists are reported to have invaded the
camps of flood victims in Makurdi, Benue
state capital defiling no fewer than 19
young girls in different settlements.
Investigations revealed that the
perpetrators of the ungodly act were
young men who reside in the camps
with their victims while others come
from within the communities where the
flood victims are taking refuge.
The camps at Wurukum part of the state
to Saint Catherine and Wadata , have
similar rape complaints.
A 19-year old victim who pleaded to be
anonymous narrated her ordeal in the
hands of a young man she couldn’t
identify.
According to her, “I just walked back
into the camp after I had visited a former
neighbour in town. I got into the camp
that evening, while walking towards the
classrooms where we sleep, somebody
called my name from a dark spot. I tried
to find out who it was, but before I
knew what was happening, somebody
grabbed me from behind and threatened
that he would stab me to death if I
shouted. He grabbed me down and raped
me. I am not the only one they have
done this to, there are so many other
girls; there are over 19 of us that have
been raped in the last few days, but we
are all hiding it because of the shame,
but if we don’t cry out we will not get
help because we are helpless. And if we
don’t cry out because of the shame, the
people behind this evil acts will continue
to torment girls and women in the
camps.”
However, the Deputy Police Public
Relations Officer, PPRO, for Benue State,
Assistant Superintendent of Police Ejike
Alaribe maintained that the rape cases at
the flood camps had not been formally
reported to the State’s police command
yet. But he however, assured that his
men would intensify surveillance around
the camps to unmask the faces of the
rapists and consequently bring them to
book.
It is bad enough that these people were
rendered homeless. Now they have to
live in fear of being raped in their new
temporary home. Some men are just
heartless and should not be referred to as
humans.

The Fulani Herdsmen according to report did not spare anything on sight as they

on that day, because we have been living in peace with one another for some time now”
“We were surprised when the Fulanis

women and children who were at home
when many families had gone to church; we heard screams of women and children being murdered by the Fulanis who quickly

The truth behind the murder of four students of the University of Port Harcourt
is beginning to manifest, as the Police
paraded 13 suspects yesterday. Out of the 13
suspects, three of them were allowed to
speak with journalists with their own
versions of the story. The three of them had confessed that some policemen were actually seen at the scene of the incident before the boys were brutally murdered.
Mr David Ugbaje, a suspect had disclosed that he saw 2 policemen when the boys were being tortured, asserting that one of them actually pleaded with the community to release the boys. He indicted the second
policeman whom he said joined the mob to
beat up the boys.
He said that the students were accused of
robbery , but before they were lynched, they were taken to a house around Coca-Cola street to find out whether they actually went to see a debtor as they claimed or not.
Mr David said that it became obvious that
they wanted to kill the boys when they
got to the house and bright was not there.

the mob out of the compound when they

TEST YOUR IQ- SOLVE THIS RIDDLE
MOTHER OF TWINS COMMIT SUICIDE BY JUMPING INTO OSUN RIVER IN EDE
A few days after she was delivered of a set of twins, Mrs Shekinat Abdurazaq, 27, allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday when she jumped into the Osun River in Ede.
The incident occurred at about 3.30 p.m. on the Osun River Bridge on the Oke Gada Road. It was learnt that the woman, who hailed from Ede in Osun, delivered the twins 11 days ago.
An eyewitness account revealed that shortly before Abdurazaq jumped into the river, she reportedly prayed and gave alms to beggars around the bridge head.
One of the eyewitnesses, who identified himself as Selia Mojeed, said that people did not know that Abdurazaq wanted to commit suicide, else they would have prevented her from doing so.
Although efforts to speak with her husband failed, it was said that the woman had no outstanding problems with her spouse, family or neighbours beforethe incident.
Efforts by sympathisers and passersby to rescue thewoman failed as she was said to have drowned immediately.
Shortly after the incident, her husband who also attempted to jump into the river was prevented from doing so by onlookers.
The police later whisked away the deceased’s husband and placed him under safe custody at the Police “A” Division in Ede.

ALUU: INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE RELEASES OFFICIAL STATEMENT
On 5th October, 2012 at about 0700Hrs, based on a distress call that some armed robbers were arrested at Omukiri-Aluu area in Ikwerre LGA, a patrol team of four
Policemen from Isiokpo Divisional Police
Headquarters was dispatched to the area, a
distance of about 10kms. The Police on
getting to the scene met a mob attack
on four victims who were supposedly the
suspected armed robbers. Attempt made
by the Police Patrol Team to take over the
suspects were met with stiff opposition
from the mob who chased the team with stones.
Consequently, the Patrol Team called for
reinforcements, but unfortunately, upon
the arrival of the reinforcements, the alleged
armed robbery suspects have been stoned
and burnt to death, while the mob immediately took to their heels. The
corpses were recovered by the Police who by then have been joined by members of the
Joint Task Force (JTF). The victims were later identified to be students of University
of Port Harcourt. They are namely:
(i) Ugunna Obuzor- aged 18 Years; 200
Level Geology student;
(ii) Lloyd Toku- aged 19 Years; 200 Level
Civil Engineering student;
(iii)Tekena Elkanah- aged 20 Years, a
Diploma Technical student
(iv)Chiadaka Odinga- aged 20 Years, 200
Level Theatre Arts student.
The Police immediately launched an
investigation leading to the arrest (based
on information) of Alhaji Hassan Welewa,
the Traditional Ruler of Omukiri Community,
Aluu where the heinous incident took
place and eighteen (18) others, some of
who are members of the vigilante group of the community.
Intelligence report implicated Alhaji
Hassan Welewa, as being the person who
incited the mob to unleash terror on the victims.
Further investigation conducted by the
police indicates that four (4) suspects,
namely: Felemo Solomon; Cynthia Chinwo;
Ozioma Abajuo and Chigozie Samuel Evans have been closely linked to this barbarous
act.
Findings have revealed that the victims
had gone to the area where they met
their unfortunate death earlier that morning to demand for money allegedly owed to
them by Coxson Lelebori Lucky, alias ‘Bright’, who raised a false alarm that the victims were armed robbers. Although, Coxson has gone underground, Detectives are on his trail.
Investigation is ongoing with efforts being intensified to track down others who are
involved in the incident. Those who are
found culpable shall be prosecuted.
Meanwhile, massive deployment of
Policemen has been made to the area,
including detectives to assist the State Police Command. Normalcy has been restored in the area, while the situation in the area,
especially in the University and other
tertiary institutions are being closely monitored with a view to forestalling any
untoward reactions.
Efforts are being intensified to establish
the motive(s) behind this crime, arrest all
who may be directly or indirectly connected with the crime and eventually
bring all indicted persons to book.
I wish to use this medium to advice and
appeal to Nigerians to see it as their civic
obligation in the fight against crime and
criminality, to assist security agencies in
the discharge of their responsibility. Security
is everybody’s responsibility and so,
should not be abandoned in the hands of
security agencies alone. The maximum
cooperation of the public is needed to ensure that Nigeria is safe for all.
Nigerians are further reminded to avoid
taking laws into their hands, as two
wrongs can never make a right. More so, it is criminal and against the laws of the land
and those that do so will surely be made to
face the full wrath of the law.
In addition, the IGP appeals to citizens
who might have information torching on
this and other on-going Police investigation not to hesitate in turning over such
information to the Nigeria Police Force.
May I assure Nigerians that the Police
Force will do everything legitimate,
within its capacity, to ensure that perpetrators of these dastardly acts at Aluu in Rivers State are identified and made to face the law.

AMAZING USES OF COCACOLA OTHER THAN DRINKING
I recently came across some very unusual Coca-cola purposes other than drinking, and thought to share with you guys.
Coke is proposed said to be useful for
busting rust, cleaning clothes, cooking
and even medical purposes.
Take a look at the comprehensive list
when you continue.
1. RUST BUSTER
- Coke is an excellent rust buster. If you
have some small objects that need de-
rusting and you have no rust-buster on
hand, all you have to do is soak the iron
(object) overnight in coca-cola and give a
good scrub in the morning.
- You can also use rough textured cloths
dipped in coke to clean different objects
1b. How to Loosen a rusty bolt:
You have a rusty bolt that’s giving you
a hard time and you want to loosen it?
Nothing simpler as long as you have
your trusty coke at hand. Just pour on
some Coke and wait.
2. CLEANING
- Coke can be used to remove grease, blood
stains, nasty smell like fish and other
nasty odours from clothing and fabrics.
Just add a Coke to your laundry and
there you have it.
- Cleaning oil stains from your garage:
soak the stains in coke, let them settle
then hose off the whole thing et voila,
squeaky clean
- Burnt pans giving you a hard time?
Just soak them in the Coke, then rinse,
and no more burn stains
- You can also descale a kettle using the
same method as above
- Clean car battery terminals: pour a
small quantity of Coke over each one,
and the terminals are as good as new
- Do you want your pennies to be
pretty? Soaking them in Coke will
remove the tarnish and make them shiny
and pretty.
- Clean tile grout; pour onto kitchen
floor, leave it there for a few minutes,
then wipe that floor up.
- Marker stains on the carpet? Pour Coke
on it, scrub, then clean with soapy
water.
- Remove stains from vitreous china
- Wanna clean your pool and have no
pool cleaner? Just buy 2 bottles of 2
litters of Coca Cola and empty them into
the pool, it’ll act like rust remover and it
will clean your pool water.
- De-Skunk yourself! One can of coke
added to a bucket of water with
detergent really helps to break the
skunk-smell down.
- Clean the toilet by pouring around the
bowl, leave in for a while then flush
and clean.
- Strip paint off metal furniture: soak a
towel in Coke, sit it on the surface for
days. Make sure you keep adding Coke
to keep the towel wet.
- Shake up a can and pour it over your
windshield or bumpers to remove bugs
and other crud.
- Clean your engine with Coke easy and
cheap!
3. BEAUTY TIP
- Coke makes your skin silky: just mix
a spoonful of Coke with regular lotion
and apply liberally
- Remove (or fade) dye from hair by
pouring diet Coke over it.
- Do you want a deeper sun tan? Just
apply Coke onto your skin and go
sunbathing
- Curl your hair with Coca-Cola: pour flat
Coke onto long hair, leave for a few
minutes then rinse.
- Gum in your hair? Put the scissors
down and dip the gum into a small
bowl of Coke, let it settle for a few
minute and the gum will wipe off.
3. COKE & COOKING
- Looking for an easy recipe of sweet
BBQ sauce? Never been easier if you have
a Coke at hand! Mix a can of Coke with
ketchup and brush over ribs or chicken.
- Baste a ham roast with Coke as it
cooks. The sugars will caramelize; the ham
will be moist and yummy.
- sprinkle a can of coke on your pot
roast to make it tender, it also adds
extra flavor
- Mix a can of Coke with a packet of
Italian seasoning; cook a tough steak in
it.
- Bake low-fat brownies, just look up the
recipe online
- Planing a picnic but you’re annoyed
by the bugs? Just pour a cup of Coke,
and set it away from the picnic spot
you chose. It will attract wasps and bees
so they wont bug you and your grub
4. GARDEN
- Make better compost for your plants:
Coke increases the acidity, adds sugars
and feeds micro organisms.
- Use coke to perk up your Azaleas or
Gardenias, just add coke to the water
you use, more water than coke though.
5. COKE AS MEDICINE
- Cure nausea; let a can of Coke go flat
then take a teaspoon of Coke every hour.
- Flat coke can help relieve an upset
stomach.
- Drink Coke to prevent an asthma
attack! Sounds crazy? Well, it’s not, the
caffeine in two 12oz cans can prevent
the onset of an attack.
- Neutralize a jellyfish sting by pouring
coke on the spot
- Get rid of hiccups; gargle with a big
mouthful of ice-cold Coke.
- Relieve congestion; boil a can of Coke
and drink while hot to clear you up.
- Supposedly, drinking an 8oz can of
Coke every day can prevent kidney
stones.
6. OTHER UNUSUAL USES
- Defrost a frozen wind shield. Apply
liberally and wait for the magic.
- Do you want your Chrome objects to
shine more? Add coke and aluminum foil
on them, leave it for a few minutes,
then wash off.
- Age documents and photos; for that
antique look, apply Coke, pat with paper,
leave to dry.
Sounds unbelievable right? Well, I’m yet
to try any of these methods, probably
because I prefer my coke simple as a beverage. If on the other hand, you are
more adventurous than I am, please leave
your comment as to whether or not
what you tried out worked out.

NIGERIAN AMBASSADOR TO UKRAINE WARNS NIGERIA NOT TO STUDY IN UKRAINE
Studying in Ukraine, has in recent times, been a topic of debate considering the alleged racial discrimination being experienced by Nigerian students and the problem of communicating in English Language. As English is not the official language spoken in Ukraine, Nigerian students often have difficulties in communicating when they travel there for their studies.
To buttress this, the Nigerian Ambassador to Ukraine, Frank Ngozi Isoh, has advised Nigerian parents to be wary of sending their children to English Language training institutions as Ukrainians are not proficient in the language.
In September, the National Universities
Commission (NUC) had said some states
sponsor students to sub-standard
universities abroad and Ukraine was one
of the countries mentioned. The
Executive Secretary of NUC Professor
Julius Okojie also made reference to a
university in Ukraine where there are
over 800 medical students and some of
the students do not have the
qualification in basic sciences.
In a recent report by Daily Trust, the
Ambassador made some startling revelations that raises some doubts about the idea of studying in Ukraine.
The Ambassador said that Nigerians won’t get the best when it comes to studying in Ukraine with the English Language. “One thing I will like to say about education in this place, and this is something we intend to package in a report to government to see how this can be propagated back home – I do not think that Nigerians get the best when it comes to studying in this place in
the English language.”
While noting that the lure for most
parents is the low cost of tuition which
is about $3,000 for a course that could cost up to $20,000 in the United States or Canada, the Ambassador further said
that the people who teach them in English language are natives of Ukraine who are also not very proficient in the language.
He advised students who want to study in Ukraine to first learn the local language in order to get the best out of the education system. While speaking on Universities in Ukraine offering medical courses, he said he doesn’t think Nigerian medical students trained in English get the best. “We don’t think that Nigerian medical doctors trained in English speaking universities here get the best. But those who endeavour to learn the language and then attend lectures with the natives certainly get better trained.”
It was only weeks ago that news of a
Nigerian student studying in Ukraine who faced life imprisonment for allegedly defending himself against six teenagers surfaced in the media. What was noteworthy about his case is that he was remanded in detention for several days by the Ukrainian police who refused to take the case to court citing unavailability of the
police to get an interpreter for him.
If you were planning on studying in Ukraine, it might be wise to listen to
the advice of the Ambassador..

WIFE DRAGS PASTOR TO LAGOS COURT OVER ALLEGED ASSAULT, ADDICTION TO PORNOGRAPHY
Blessing, the wife of Pastor Victor Odafe,
asked an Agege Grade A Customary Court in Lagos for a divorce. According to the Pastor’s wife, Victor was fond of watching
pornographic movies and indulged in self-
pleasuring a lot.
The mother of two who dragged her husband before the court vowed not to have anything to do with Victor whom she
claimed always threatened her with physical
injuries whenever they had misunderstanding.
Blessing told the court that she lost interest
in the relationship when she found that her husband was irresponsible and also lacked care for her and their children.
She added that Victor once alleged that she
was responsible for his dwindling fortune.
Blessing also claimed that the husband used
to call her unprintable names, adding that
when she gave birth to their second child, he denied the paternity mainly because the
baby was black in complexion while they
(the parents) are fair. The drug and cosmetic
marketer alleged that Victor was fond of
watching pornographic movies whenever he
felt like masturbating.
”l always warned him to stop the bad habit,
because it doesn’t portray him in good light
as a minister of God”. She urged the court to dissolve the marriage and grant her custody of the children.
In his defence, Victor, who claims to be a
pastor at Empowerment Church Oregun,
Lagos, denied the allegations. According to
him, he gave Blessing some money to join
him in the church, only to return and
discovered that she had gone with the
children.
The husband added that he quickly informed her parents who told him that they were not aware of his wife’s decision to pack out of her matrimonial home. “I was amazed. I had to call my boss to intervene and he did, but Blessing proved stubborn”.
He claimed that he began to notice on their
wedding day that his wife was aggressive
and abusive. However, Victor blamed himself
for encouraging his wife to abort a pregnancy, saying he did it out of ignorance. The husband also regretted beating his wife due to frustration he “experienced as an Okada rider”.
He added, “I had a good job when we were
living in Nnewi, Anambra State, before
relocating to Lagos, but, in order to make
ends meet, l became an Okada rider and got
frustrated by the day”.
Meanwhile, the court adjourned the case till
November 5, 2012 for further hearing. It
advised the couple to consider reconciliation
and return to give progress report at the
next adjournment date.

HOW GEJ WILL SOON BECOME MOST TRAVELLED PRESIDENT IN THE WORLD
He’s only been in office for less than three
years, but at the rate President Goodluck
Jonathan is flying around the world, he is
destined to become the most traveled
president in history–and probably the most
expensive, when it comes to travel
expenditure.
The president had last year visited several
countries including United States, France,
Uganda, Australia, Ghana, Chad, Equatorial
Guinea and Ethiopia among others, but his
frequent foreign trips this year despite a
pledge to reduce such overseas travels have
continued to attract widespread criticisms.
Within the last nine months, President
Jonathan had jetted out of the country 18
times to different destinations in Africa,
Europe, Asia, North America and South
America. He has already spent 45 days in
office out of Nigeria in 2012 alone, costing
taxpayers millions.
Paradoxically, the President had on January
7, 2012, during the fuel subsidy imbroglio,
promised to reduce overseas travels.
While addressing the nation in a telecast,
Jonathan declared: “To save Nigeria, we must all be prepared to make sacrifices. On the part of government, we are taking several measures aimed at cutting the size and cost of governance, including ongoing effort to reduce the size of our recurrent expenditure and increase capital spending.
“In this regard, I have directed that overseas
travels by all political office-holders, including the President, should be reduced to the barest minimum. The size of delegations on foreign trips will also be drastically reduced; only trips that are absolutely necessary will be approved.”
Nine months down the lane, the president
does not seem to be walking his talk on
foreign trips. Twenty days after making that broadcast, he boarded the presidential aircraft to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for African Union Summit with a sizeable delegation.
Reportedly, the president had muted
trimming down his entourage on foreign
trips in June last year before travelling to
Equatorial Guinea for the 17th African Union Summit in Malabo. A Presidency source described it as “part of a cutting cost
measure” to reverse the trend of travelling
with large team. The source added, “Huge
financial resources are committed to
presidential trips. Only those whose services
are essential like security, protocol and the
media would henceforth be allowed to travel
with the president again.” But on the
contrary, most trips made by the president
since January had been accompanied by a
large number of aides, ministers, associates
and government officials which goes against
the purported directives given earlier that
only people whose services would be required while on the trip will be allowed to travel with the president.
Again, when the president chooses to travel
with a trimmed down delegation like the
recent visit to New York, United States for
the 67th Session of United Nations General
Assembly, the level of profligacy was mindboggling. President Jonathan was
reportedly quartered at the Pierre Hotel in a
suite that cost $10,000 per night. The Nigerian delegation’s wastefulness during the trip earned the attraction of America’s
conventional media. The National
Broadcasting Corporation ((NBC), one of the
top three television networks in the US,
reported that the Nigerian delegates along
with other African counterparts stayed in
some of the most expensive hotels and
shopped in high-priced retail stores during
the UN General Assembly.
Similarly, the 2013 budget recently submitted to the National Assembly by President Jonathan suggested that N2.6 billion was voted for the president’s foreign travels for the president which was N1.69 billion more than the N951 million allocated for the same purpose in this year’s budget. Indicatively, the Presidency intends to stretch its foreign jaunts beyond the current figures.
Economic experts believe N2.6 billion is too
huge for foreign trips in a nation where
critical sectors such as health and education
are underfunded.
Critics were also quick to point out the
president’s poor sense of timing when on
June 19, 2012 he left Nigeria for Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil for the United Nations’ Earth
Summit.
President Jonathan was accused of negligence for travelling to Brazil barely 24 hours after about 75 persons were killed in the bombing of three churches and consequent reprisals in Kaduna State.
Similarly, there was a fierce gunfight between operatives of the Joint Task Force and suspected terrorists, which also left about 25 dead in Damaturu, Yobe State.
In that trip, the president travelled with 116
others, including 25 personal aides; 18 aides
of the First Lady; two members of the
National Assembly; five ministers; two
governors and 63 officials of various
ministries.
Defending the Brazil jaunt, Information
Minister, Labaran Maku, claimed that the
president could rule the country from
anywhere in the world.
He uttered: “The President can take decision
from anywhere in the world; his absence
will not hamper his power to act. The Vice-
President effectively takes charge of affairs,
once the president is out of Nigeria and he
is in touch with the president on an hourly basis. There is no vacuum; the most
important thing is that the president and
the VP work harmoniously and are in
constant touch.”
President Jonathan equally defended himself
during a Presidential Media Chat broadcast
nationwide on June 24.
“I have no regrets going to Brazil. Nigerians
who were worried that I travelled got
worried out of ignorance. One of the tactics
of terrorists is to strangle government. If
they heard that the president and the vice-
president wanted to travel but couldn’t do
so because they struck, they would celebrate
it,” he said.
Five days after his arrival from Brazil, the
president left Abuja again for Brussels,
Belgium, for a one-day official visit to
Belgium, where he addressed participants at
the Summit of the World Customs
Organisation.
He took along with him 57 persons for the
trip. They included 26 aides, three ministers,
eight members of the National Assembly and
20 other government officials.
Mrs. Jonathan left Brussels for Maryland,
United States of America to attend the
United Nations Educational, Scientific and
Cultural Organisation’s First Ladies “Youth
Infusion” Summit in Annapolis, reportedly
in company with 36 people, including 18
aides, four wives of governors and 14
associates.
The 2012 presidential foreign trip dossier
suggests that President Jonathan travelled
out of the country four times in September
alone. He went to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for
a two-day visit on September 1 for the burial of late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and nine days later he took a trip to Malawi and Botswana in a cumulative three-day visit for enhancement of bi-lateral relationships. The president ended the month of September with another trip to New York, United States for the UN General Assembly.
He was also a special guest of Trinidad &
Tobago Prime Minster Kamla Persad-Bissessar
between July 31 and August 1. The president took with him a 70-member delegation for Emancipation celebrations.
President Jonathan’s trips have been likened
to those of former president Olusegun
Obasanjo, who was said to have been one of
the most travelled heads of government in
the world. He had traveled out of the
country 93 times within the first three
years in office.
He was reported to have stayed outside the
country for 340 days during his presidency
and travelled 400 times between 1999 and
2007.
Critics of the president’s frequent foreign
trips have argued that there are serious issues at home which require his attention rather than the jaunts he often makes to countries with less economic and political importance.
Many of the trips he had made in the past
months, they submitted, should have been
done by the officials of the ministry of
foreign affairs so that he can sit at home and concentrate on the pressing issues facing the nation.
Civil right activist, Mr Yinka Odumakin,
decried the frequent foreign travels of the
president. He observed that it does not show that the president is committed to the task given to him by the people.
According to him, “the president’s frequent
foreign trips are a clear indication that he
does not care about us at home, we are not
his priority. He does not give a damn about
Nigerians and the job he was given to do by the people. As someone with limited
exposure, he sees the seat of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as an excuse to go round the world shaking hands with foreign leaders and visit cities he has not been before rather than sitting down at home to tackle the challenges facing the country.
The challenges caused by insecurity, floods,
hunger, fuel scarcity and all sort of
afflictions we are witnessing today should
be the concern of any president anywhere
in the world. But the priority of the
president is quite different, it’s not about
Nigerians and Nigeria, it’s about the privilege
of office beyond responsibility of office.
“When the Malawian president was to come
to Nigeria for the African presidents submit
it was Nigeria that sent the plane that
brought her from Malawi because she has sold all the aircrafts that her country has to
revive the country’s ailing economy. This is a leader that has heart for her people. She
wants to live in the condition that is not
far from the one her people are living. But
our own president, despite the fact that he
met several Jets in the presidential fleet, he
has acquired three more jets for his foreign
trips whereas today we don’t have one
single plane flying Nigerian colour yet we
have several planes in the presidential fleet.
I think it’s a function of priority and focus of the president. What it means is that he owe no allegiance to Nigerian people or willing to do anything about the economy but going about the world to impress world leaders. Look at all the events he has gone to anywhere in the world, Nigeria always has the largest number of delegations, is this the way to improving our ailing economy. The president is feasting but asked us to fast, he asked us to tightened our belts but he is not ready to make any sacrifice for the
country.”
A former deputy governor of Kebbi State and Chairman of the integrity group of the All Nigerian Peoples Party [ANPP], Alhaji
Suleiman Muhammed Argungu bemoaned the president’s frequent foreign trips.
Alhaji Argungu stated that the challenges
posed by insecurity, floods, power and
corruption should be the priority of the
president rather than his frequent foreign
trips which may not yield any good thing
for the country.
He said “I think the president should stop or minimize his frequent foreign trips because it’s not in the interest of the nation. He should sit at home and tackle the various problems confronting us as a nation. We have issues of corruption, fuel scarcity, insecurity and power to tackle, so he should sit at home to tackle them rather than frequently embarking on foreign trips.”
Also speaking to Sunday Trust on the issue, national publicity secretary of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) Mr Rotimi Fashakin described as “excessive” the N2.9 billion voted for his travels in the 2013
budget at a time when Nigeria is still
grappling with recession.
Fashakin noted that by his action President
Jonathan does not mean what he says,
stressing that his administration does not
have real desire to bring about a fundamental change from the past.
“In the budget proposal for 2013, Jonathan
plans to spend N2.9billion on travels. For a
country still grappling with recession, that is excessive. There is no real desire by this
administration to bring about a fundamental
change from the horrendous past. Jonathan
has become a talking but not doing president! For most of the time, the president does not mean what he says.
“The other day, he gave false statistics
credited to the Transparency International
about Nigeria. Why should anyone be
surprised that the president continues to
spend more on his big government? There is a leadership deficit in Nigeria. Is Jonathan a hostage of his deceptive schemes?,” CPC
spokesperson queried.
Similarly, the Conference of Nigeria Political
Parties (CNPP) spokesman, Mr Osita
Okechukwu, said though he had no problem
with foreign trips aimed at boosting Nigeria’s relations with other countries, he advised that the number of contingent should be shrunk to save money.
“I don’t have anything against the trips. I
may just be worried about the enlargement
of the contingent. They should try to
shrink the contingent. I’m saying this
because you cannot tell him not to go the
United Nations. Will you tell him not to
strike a balance in terms of bi-lateral
relations? What is awful is the size of the
contingent. The size of the contingent is
more worrisome than the number of trips.
“I will advise that they should shrink the
contingent to save money. There are a lot of people that have no business on the trips.
Those that do not have any business on the trip should stay back,” he said.
But in a swift reaction to the issue, Special
Assistant to the President on Public Affairs
Dr Doyin Okupe dismissed the report that the president is travelling overseas with large contingent as untrue.
Okupe, who was told that President
Jonathan’s trips abroad with large
contingent, was not in tune with his
promise to cut cost of governance after the
January 2012 fuel subsidy protests, said
fuming:”What do you mean by large
contingent? What do you mean by that?
Like the recent trip to the United Nations,
how many people follow the President?
“….The allegation is that the president said he is going to cut the cost of governance and that when he travels, he goes with large contingent. Now, if that is true. The latest travel was his trip to the UN. How many people from your own investigation did he carry?
“I will tell you point blank that it is not
true that the president carries a lot of people on any trip when he is going. Number one, he is using a Gulfstream aircraft that doesn’t take more than 20 or so. A lot of Nigerians travel by regular routes to just go and give president support….
“So, where is this large crowd from? Where
do you get it from? You cannot give me
any exact number anywhere. The UN is the latest meeting he went. What number of people did you find out?
“You should be able to tell me that when he went to America, he went with certain
number of people. When the president says
he wants to cut the cost of governance,
what he is trying to say is that we are
going to cut the cost of overhead, the cost of bureaucracy and others.
“How many times does he travel in a
month? How many times does he travel in
a quarter? There is no need for us to write
things for the sake of writing them. That
story has no substance and cannot be
proven by anything. In any case, the
government has a budget for President’s
travels. And there is no evidence from the
National Assembly that he has overstressed
that budget.”

POLICE KILL SALES GIRL, 3 OTHERS INJURED IN ABUJA
A 20-year old sales girl identified simply
as Lucy, was on Friday shot dead by
policemen in the Apo area of Abuja.
The girl was hit in the chest by bullets
fired into a photography shop where she
worked as a sales girl.
Three other people sustained gunshot
injuries when policemen from the FCT
Police Command fired bullets indiscriminately in an attempt to enforce
the demolition order of the Abuja
Metropolitan Management Council.
The policemen had stormed the area around 7 am with officials of Development Control Department, who had come to demolish illegal structures.
But residents and indigenes, who felt
that the government had no right to
demolish their houses when they were
yet to be resettled, resisted the operation.
They claimed that the case was still in
court and that their leaders had advised
them to continue to live in the area
pending the determination of the suit.
As the policemen shot indiscriminately
to control the residents, bullets penetrated into one of the shops and Lucy was hit in the chest. She was rushed to Garki Hospital, but she was confirmed dead on arrival. Her body has been deposited in the mortuary.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of
Police, Mr. Wilson Inalegwu, who was in
tears, when he visited the hospital
promised that the case would be
investigated.
“We are not sure what took our men
there or what led to the shooting, it’s
still a matter for investigation,” he said.
Emeka Ani, owner of the photo shop,
where the deceased worked, said that his
sales boy also sustained gunshot injuries
during the incident.
He said, “From morning, the police
surrounded our area. They said they came for demolition. All of a sudden, they started shooting sporadically. They
shot into my shop and killed my sales
girl. My boy also sustained injuries. Lucy has been with me for about one month. Her sister brought her for me from Cross River.”

8 DAY OLD BABY DUMPED AT THE CEMENTRY FOR 4 DAYS, FOUND WITH MAGGOTS COMING OUT FROM ALL OVER HIS BODY
The rate at which people have been
dumping babies, and attempting to kill
them in recent time is far from alarming.
Less than a week, after reporting about
three different cases of babies left for dead, another baby has being found abandoned at a cemetery in Kakuri, Kaduna South local government area of Kaduna State yesterday.
The baby suspected to be eight-day-old
was found wrapped inside a bag and
abandoned at a cemetery.
The boy, who had maggots coming out
from every opening on his body, was
still alive, according to two good Samaritans who located him in the area.
Mr. Robert Ogbole, a student of Bayero
University Kano and Miss Grace Yahaya,
a Kaduna State athlete who found the
baby, narrated their experiences to
newsmen.
Ogbole said: “I was at home at about 11:
30 am when my younger brother (Mike),
who passed through the cemetery to the
football field came with a report that he
heard the sound of a baby inside a bag
at the cemetery. So, I quickly called my
neighbour (Grace), and we ran to the
place.
“On getting there, we found this baby boy rapped all over with cloth and was kept in the cemetery, so we picked him and this my neighbour helped to unwrap him, the baby had maggots coming from every opening of his body but was still alive.
“We then took the baby to Young Men
Christian Association (YMCA) clinic in
Kakuri where the baby was treated before
we brought him to the police station.
“The nurse at the clinic confirmed that
the baby should be about a week old and
probably would have been in that condition for about four days,’’ she said.
Meanwhile, the PPRO said, the police will
carry out necessary investigation with a
view to unveiling the perpetrator of such dastardly act.
Imagine, the baby was found alive even
after 4 days. I’m in awe of the work of
God.

UNILAG STUDENT GETS 18 MONTHS JAIL TERM FOR INTERNET SCAM
A student of the University of Lagos,
Michael Opaleye was today sentenced to 18
months imprisonment by a Lagos State High Court for allegedly defrauding an American lady, Kathy Lunsford through the internet.
The Computer Science student of UNILAG
pleaded guilty to the charge of obtaining by
false pretence and forgery after defrauding
Miss Kathy Lunsford to the tune of 9,200 US dollars under the pretext of getting married to her. He also forged a Nigeria drivers’ Licence No. WWD24174AAJ, which he claimed, was issued by the Federal Road

According to EFCC counsel, Mr Anselem
Ozioko, Opaleye had between 2008 and 2011,
swindled Lunsford by making a fake marriage proposal to her through e-mail.
He said Lunsford had sent Opaleye the said
